Oct. 13, 2013 . . . . . . . . . . . . . This Sunday, SPP Parish will play host to a regional celebration for the 150th Celebration of the Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica of Atchison. A special Eucharist Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Church will be held at 1PM, followed by a reception and lunch for the sisters to be held after Mass in the Parish Hall . Visiting with the sisters throughout the remainder of the afternoon will follow. This day in Seneca is the third of three special regional days being held during the year-long celebration, which began Nov. 11, 2012, marking the beginning of the 150th year of the Benedictine Sisters’ presence in Atchison. Sts. Peter and Paul Parish was the first mission of the sisters outside of Atchison and the sisters have served here from 1876 until 2010.
Many sisters came by bus to Seneca as part of their 150th celebration at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish and school with a Mass this afternoon and followup meal and reception and afternoon of visiting in the parish center. (For an enlarged view click on the picture.)
