Grandparents Day at SPPS 2009
GRANDPARENTS DAY AT SPPS 2009
On September 11, 2009, Friday, many grandparents came to the church for Grandparent’s Day. During mass, Melissa Nordhus, Alex Rottinghaus, Micheala Stallbaumer, and Lisa Olberding read stories that they wrote about their grandparents. Earlier that week each class was assigned a letter. Each class had to decorate their letter on a poster and also they had to come up with a short saying about their grandparents for their letter. After Communion, two children from each grade came up to the front of church and held their letter up, while the other student read their saying for it. At the end of mass, all the students formed a circle and sang the closing song. . Once mass was over the grandparents and students made their way to the cafeteria for cinnamon rolls, coffee, and milk. At the tables were tablecloths that each class had decorated earlier that week. Once they were done eating, they were able to tour the grade school or junior high to see what their grandchildren have been up to. Once they had looked around, they told their grandchildren goodbye and the students returned to their classrooms to begin their day. Another successful Grandparent’s Day had been completed.
