*Orders are now being taken for the 2009/2010 Yearbooks.  The cost is $10.00 and checks should be made payable to SPPS. Orders are due to the school office no later than March 11th.

*SPPS Kindergarten and Pre-school Screenings for 2010/2011 will be held on Thursday, March 11th.   Please call the school office at 336-2727 to schedule a screening time for your child.   *Screenings are optional for pre-school children attending SPPS.  To register your preschooler in one of next year’s classes, call the school office to obtain an enrollment form.  Scholarships are available.

Following are the February activities at SPPS:

   
 Mon, Feb. 1 –  Catholic Schools Week activities begin – “We’re Nuts about Catholic Schools” – Students and faculty will dress “nutty”.
                      Parents and grandparents are invited to join the students for lunch this week.  Please let the office know at least a day in advance.  
                      This is also the 100th Day of School!  

 Tues, Feb. 2 –  ”Jammin’ with Jesus” – Students and faculty will wear pajamas to school.  
  
 Wed, Feb. 3 – “Catholic Schools Lead to a Bright Future” – Students and faculty will wear their sunglasses and/or sun visors.
                      The 1st-4th Grade Spelling Bee will be held in the cafeteria at 1 pm.  
                      Today is the Feast of St. Blasé.  

 Thurs, Feb. 4 – “The Year of the Priest” – Students and faculty will wear SPPS shirts.   
                        St. Michael’s School will join us at a 10 am mass and afterwards for a sack lunch.  
                        ”Meet your Priest” will be held in the gym from 12:30-1:30 where students will be able to ask questions of Fr. Mike and other priests.  

 Fri, Feb. 5 –  ”Fun Friday” – Students and faculty will dress nicely on this day.  
                      During mass, 8th graders will read about their experiences at SPPS.  
                      Students will mix to play board games at 1 pm with pop and popcorn following in the cafeteria.  

 Sat. Feb. 6 –  Jr. High students will participate in the OTL Basketball Tournament at Frankfort.
 
 Mon, Feb. 8 –  The 6th-8th grade students will attend a SADD presentation at NVHS beginning at 9 am.
  
 Tues, Feb. 9 –  4th Grade will play Bingo at Crestview Manor at 2 pm.
 
 Thurs, Feb. 11 –  1st Graders will take a Field Trip to the Kansas Historical Museum in Topeka.

 Wed, Feb. 17 –  Ash Wednesday Mass at 8 am  

                       Grades K-2 will hear a presentation on dental health at 12:30pm

 Thurs, Feb. 18 –  Jr High students will participate in Scholar’s Bowl at Onaga at 4 pm.  

               -       Seventeen SPPS students will receive awards for their poster or limerick entries at the annual Nemaha County Conservation Meeting.
Feb 19 – Students will participate in Stations of the Cross at 2 pm. 

Mon. Feb. 22 – There is a PTO meeting at 7 pm.  Some  of the talent show entries will be selected to perform at this meeting.                        

 Thurs, Feb. 25 –  Jr High students will participate in Scholar’s Bowl at Wetmore at 4 pm

Mon, Dec. 7 –  The Trojans will play basketball at Bern with A Girls and B Boys beginning at 6 pm.  The A Boys and B Girls games will follow.
    Wed, Dec. 9 –  There will be no afternoon bus service.  
                          The Christmas Program will be held in the new gym at 7:30 pm.  
                          A dress rehearsal will be held at 1 pm.
    Mon, Dec. 14 –   The Trojan basketball teams will host Centralia with games beginning at 4 pm.  
    Tues, Dec. 15 –  The 2nd Grade Class will play Bingo with residents at Crestview Manor.   
    Thurs, Dec. 17 – Nemaha County Community Health Services will hold a free H1N1 Clinic at SPPS beginning at 9 am.  More info will be sent home with the students.
                            The 5th-8th Geography Bee will be held in the new gym at 10 am.
    Tues, Dec. 22 –  This is the last day of the 1st Semester.  
    Wed, Dec. 23 – Sun, Jan. 3    - Christmas Vacation  
    Sun, Dec. 27 – The School Council Pancake Breakfast will be held in the Parish Hall.

SPPS will collect items for the annual holiday food drive for NEK-CAP from November 2nd -20th.

Wed, Nov 4.      The 2nd Graders will make their First Reconciliation at 10:15 am.

Thurs, Nov. 5   A  PTO Meeting  will be held a 7 pm in the Parish Hall.

Sun, Nov. 8   SPPS will hold a Spagetti Benefit for Ralph Schiffbauer and Ben Rippe,  serving from 10:30 am – 3 pm in the Parish Hall.   A silent auction for theme baskets and a raffle will be held.    To donate to this benefit, please contact the school office at  336-2727.

Confirmation Practice for 7th & 8th graders and their sponsors will begin at 3 pm in the church.

Wed, Nov. 11,  Confirmation for 7th & 8th graders at 7 PM.

Saturday,  Nov. 14     A  paper drive will be held from 8:30-10:30 am.  Pony Express Liquor & Deli and the SPPS PTO will sponsor the 6th Annual Wine Tasting Festival at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 7-9PM.    This year, a Wine Tasting 101 Class will be held before the Tasting from 6-6:45 PM.   The Free Will Donation benefits SPPS.

Monday, Nov. 16   -  8th Graders will visit Crestview Manor.

Tues,  Nov.  17 -  The Trojan basketball teams will compete in a preseason tournament at Wetmore.  Our A girls will play Bern at 4:30 on Tuesday and will play at either 5:30 or 6:30 on Friday depending on whether they win or lose on Tuesday.
Our A boys will play Bern at 5:30 on Tuesday and will play at either 4:30 or 7:30 on Friday depending on whether they win or lose on Tuesday.
Our B girls will only play Wetmore on Friday at 4:30.
Our B boys will play Emmett at 4:30 on Tuesday and will play Wetmore at 6:30 on Friday

Thurs.  Nov.  19  -  Jr. High students will participate in the OTL Vocal Clinic at B&B.  The concert will begin at 7 pm.

Fri.  Nov.   20  -  The Kindergarten class will enjoy a Thanksgiving Feast.   Last day to collect items for the NEK-CAP Food Drive.  The Jr. High will play in the Wetmore basketball tournament.

Sun,  Nov.  22  -  PTO Craft Fair & 8th Grade Lunch Stand at the Community Building from 8 until  3 pm.  The PTO Soup Supper will be held in the new Parish Hall.

  • Fall Sports Practice will begin on Monday, August 17th. The volleyball team will practice from 3:30-5:00 pm. The football team will practice beginning at 3:15 pm with NVMS.
  • Teacher In-service will be held on August 17th & August 18th.
  • The first day of classes will be Wednesday, August 19th. School will begin at 8 am and let out at 3:10 pm.
  • Preschool classes will begin on Monday, August 24th.
  • The PTO Back to School Picnic will be held on Wednesday, August 26th. All Pre-School through eighth grade families are invited. Serving will be from 6-7 pm in the new school cafeteria. An open house of the classrooms will follow.
  • School pictures and Fall sports pictures will be on Friday, August 28th
