Kelly Youth Rally 2009
Saturday, August 15, 2009 . . . . . . . St. Bede’s Parish, Kelly, hosted the 12th Annual Kelly Youth Rally. The Rally was held at a farm pond located south of the small town of Kelly, Kansas. It was a afternoon and evening full of activities and faith building and fellowship for teens of the Nemaha/Marshall region.
This year’s theme was “Apostles for Peace” chosen because this is the year of St. Paul the Apostle. The event began at 4:00 pm on Sat. evening. Entertainment of the evening included the Catholic comedy of entertainer Judy McDonald. She has been performing stand-up for 14 years. The main speaker for the Rally was Mike Patin. Patin used his energy, humor and stories to affirm the goodness of God’s presence among us. Since 2003 he has worked full-time as a speaker and “faith horticulturist”.
Father Mike Koller was the main celebrant for the 8:30 pm Mass held at the rally site. Other con-celebrants were Fr. Greg Hammes and Abbot Barnabas Senecal of St. Benedict’s Abbey.
The afternoon began with a hayrack ride to the location of the rally followed by an opening prayer, entertainment and a barbeque prepared by the newly formed Knights of Columbus. The evening concluded with the Mass.
