Sunday, August 19, 2012 . . . . . . . .. . . All members of the parish were invited to the Ground Breaking for the Narthex addition of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church today. Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann celebrated the 9:oo AM Mass. Immediately following the Mass, Archbishop Naumann preformed a blessing of the foundation for the parish’s church project. There was a reception in the parish hall following the 7:00 and 9:00 am Masses.
This is the beginning of the second phase of the parish’s renovation project. The second phase will include construction of the narthex (gathering space), repairing the stained-glass windows, installation of a new sound system, painting and redecorating the sanctuary. The 1,470-square-foot narthex, to be built onto the old entrance on the south side of the church, will have steps and ramps, a handicapped-accessible door, and a basement. The narthex will have a vestry and handicapped access to the confessionals and bathrooms. Construction of the narthex will begin after Labor Day. The church will be closed after Jan 1, 2013, and worship will take place in the school for the next six months. The project is projected to be completed by next summer 2013.
